If soccer is a religion, as some claim, then our trip to Spain must have been the pilgrimage to the holy land. It’s a bit difficult to put into words. Touring and sitting on the bench at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu was surreal. Attending the Madrid derby at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano was electrifying. Training at the Spanish national team facility (Ciudad Del Futbol Las Rozas) and Sevilla FC training ground (Ciudad Deportiva Ramón Cisneros Palacios) was an experience that I will not forget anytime soon. But what I think I liked the most was the opportunity to play against and interact with my Spanish peers. It provided me with a whole new perspective and a newfound appreciation for the game. I hope to continue to play the game at a high level for years to come, and I feel like this experience was a springboard for the future.
